Supemicro Highlights Performance-per-watt Servers at LinuxWorld 2006
Solutions Optimized for Xeon 5100/5000 Processors

San Jose, CA, August 14, 2006 - Super Micro Computer, Inc., the leader in high-efficiency servers, chassis and mainboards, is showcasing its broad range of dual-core Xeon 5100/5000 series servers and Core 2 Duo solutions at LinuxWorld 2006, Booth 828, Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco on August 15-17.

The energy-saving SuperServer 6015V-TLP couples a Supermicro high-efficiency power supply with two Xeon 5100 Low Voltage series processors to create the ideal platform for performance-per-watt sensitive environments. In standard configurations, the SS6015V-TLP typically consumes less than 185W AC power when active and less than 135W AC power when idle.

"We have achieved system-level breakthroughs in design, energy efficiency and thermal reliability which enable greater versatility and a correspondingly lower total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to previous generation solutions," notes Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. "As a prime example of our design leadership, the innovative SuperServer 6015X combines the features of a 2U server (5 add-on cards) into a 1U form factor. Ideal for space-constrained enterprises, it provides double the expansion capacity of existing 1U installations."

The innovative 6015X Series servers illustrate the advantage of Supermicro's comprehensive system-level design approach where each building block in its SuperServers is engineered for optimum system-level benefits. While the 6015X doubles expansion capacity with support for five add-on cards, the popular SuperServer 6015B-T+ doubles memory capacity by supporting up to 64GB of fully buffered (FBD) DDR2 memory via 16 DIMM sockets.

Over 60 new Woodcrest server boards and systems are now in volume production. Systems showcased at the Supermicro LinuxWorld 2006 booth (#828) include:
  • SuperServer 6015V-TLP: Energy-saving 1U DP Xeon 5100LV server
  • SuperServer 6015X-8: 2U-in-1UTM server with 4 (+1) expansion slots
  • SuperServer 6015B-T+: 1U server with 16 FBDIMM sockets
  • SuperServer 6015P-8R: 1U server with redundant high-efficiency power supplies
  • SuperServer 6025B-3: 2U server with 8 hot-swap SAS/SATA hard drives
  • SC836TQ-R800 + X7DB3: 3U chassis with 16 hot-swap SAS/SATA hard drives
  • SuperWorkstation 7045A-8: 4U convertible tower workstation
All of these systems leverage Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology to move network data more efficiently for fast, scaleable, and reliable networking.
