Supermicro Releases High Storage Capacity, High Availability SuperServer
New SuperServer Targets Business-Critical Applications with Industry-leading Performance and Superior Storage Capability

February 20, 2003 – Supermicro, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of server solutions and motherboards, today announced the release of the SuperServer 7043P-8R, a high-end, high-availability server optimized for storage-intensive business critical applications such as corporate databases, networking, email and Web servers.

The SuperServer 7043P-8R, powered by dual Xeon® processors with clock speeds up to 2.8 GHz at a 533/400 MHz front side bus, supports up to 16 GB of interleaved DDR-266/200 SDRAM in 8 DIMM sockets, lowering the total cost of ownership while providing industry-leading performance and high availability. The server has 10 Ultra 320 SCSI drives and can support up to 15 with the addition of a mobile rack to provide up to 1.5 terabytes of storage. The 7043P-8R also features the robust Super X5DP8-G2 serverboard, which provides six PCI-X slots, a dual Gigabit Ethernet controller, an IPMI 1.5 (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) option and onboard graphics.
