Supermicro Unveils first Family of dual INTEL Xeon® servers based on new Intel and Serverworks™ chipsets
Supermicro 1U, 2U and Tower Dual Xeon Designs Featuring New Chipsets and Enhanced Cooling Now Showing at the Intel Developer’s Forum

SAN JOSE, CA. February 25, 2002 – Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of server solutions and motherboards, today announced the initial offerings in the Supermicro dual Xeon series of high-availability and high-end/cost effective servers and server motherboards, the first widely available dual Intel Xeon™ processor server solutions based on the new Intel® E7500™ and ServerWorks GC-LE™ chipsets. Supermicro’s Silicon Valley based team of experienced engineers enabled the quick introduction of the latest processor and chipset technologies into the dual Xeon server family. The cooling-enhanced designs of the Supermicro 6000 and 7000 series of 1U, 2U and 4U/tower servers enable the efficient dissipation of heat from these high-end processors to keep them well within Intel’s temperature specifications, an achievement previously unthinkable in 1U designs.

“Supermicro strives to be the first to optimize new technologies and deliver them to the marketplace thus giving our customers every competitive edge possible,” said Charles Liang, CEO and founder of Supermicro. “Our new dual Xeon servers are unmatched in terms of system performance, computing density, price to performance ratio and high-availability requirements.”

The family of dual Xeon servers includes three new Intel E7500 based units and three new ServerWorks GC-LE based units. The 6012P-6, 6012P-E, 6022P-6, 6012L-6, 6022L-6 and 7042L-6 all support dual Intel Xeon processors, providing exceptional performance for the most processing-intensive applications.

The 6000 and 7000 Series
The 6000 and 7000 family of servers demonstrates Supermicro’s engineering-driven design capabilities. The ability to dissipate the heat generated by dual Xeon 2.20 GHz processors in a 1U rackmount configuration is a testament to Supermicro’s industry-leading designs.
