Supermicro First to Deliver High Integration and Value of 810 Chipset

San Jose, CA (April 26, 1999) - Four mainboards based on Intel's newest 810 chipset have been introduced by Supermicro, the most trusted name in computer motherboard solutions. These consist of two Slot 1 ATX boards, the PIIISWA and PIIISWD, and two Celeron PPGA microATX boards, the 370SWD and 370SWM. All four feature onboard sound, integrated graphics, Wake-on-LAN and Suspend to RAM, which can wake the system up from a deep power saving mode in seconds. The integrated graphics utilize second-generation graphics technology, called Direct AGP, to provide excellent 2D and 3D graphic performance. The integration of sound and graphics in the 810 chipset allows these boards to offer innovative multimedia features with impressive performance while lowering overall system costs and freeing up expansion card slots.

The PIIISWD supplies 6 PCI slots, the PIIISWA 4 PCI and 3 ISA slots, while the 370SWD and 370SWM each provide 3 PCI slots. All four boards support a 100 MHz FSB speed and 512 MB of SDRAM. All but the 370SWM feature a 4 MB display cache for increased 3D graphics performance and support the new ATA 66 standard for ultra fast IDE throughput. Color-coded I/O ports based on the PC 99 standard simplify system setup while hardware protection and a BIOS Recovery Procedure safeguard the 4 Mb AMIBIOS used on all boards, eliminating the need of redundant sets of BIOS components. In addition, the chipset's Firmware Hub (FWH) also stores the system BIOS and video BIOS. The technological innovations of the 810 chipset harnessed by the meticulous design and superior quality that have become synonymous with Supermicro have resulted in a winning solution. System integrators and Basic PC users are finding these 810 chipset boards to be ideal for state-of-the-art systems at an economical price.
