The First Complete Xeon® Solution In The Market Comes From Supermicro
San Jose, California (June 29, 1998) — Accredited to its strong partnership with computer industry’s leaders, SUPERMICRO is the first to introduce a complete Pentium II Xeon server/workstation solution – S2DGU and S2DGR.
SUPERMICRO maintains its lead in providing quality high-end servers and motherboards as it unveils the S2DGR and S2DGU along with a chassis design to support the powerful new processor Xeon from Intel. SUPERMICRO’s S2DGR is a Dual Slot II motherboard using Intel’s 440GX AGPset with Adaptec’s AIC 7895 SCSI chip, a Dual Channel UW SCSI that allows for transfer rate of up to 80 MB/sec with the two channels combined. To further enhance the power of all the features presented on the S2DGR is Adaptec’s ARO 1130 RAIDport for increased I/O performance and fault tolerance for extended functionality. "The market is very competitive, so working to be the very best through the products we provide is not a luxury, but rather an everyday goal for me," said Charles Liang, President and CEO of SUPERMICRO.
Even more feature packed than the S2DGR is the S2DGU—the ideal motherboard for the high-end powerful server environment. S2DGU is also based on the 440GX AGPset, running at system bus of 100 MHz with main memory capability of 2 Gbytes, has Adaptec’s AIC 7890 Ultra II SCSI and ARO 1130 RAIDport. The functionality of these mentioned features should meet if not exceed the most demanding performance intensive applications on the market.
To complete the server with housing that not only encases these two Xeon solution motherboards, but also fully support the weight and dimensions of dual Xeon processors would be SUPERMICRO’s SC750-A—a full-tower server/workstation chassis that is known for the unique Redundant Cooling System power supply patented to SUPERMICRO. With the Redundant Cooling System, a stand-alone technology designed to prevent server/workstation failure, the completeness of SUPERMICRO’s server/workstation building blocks goes beyond products offered, it includes the developed technologies and features encompassed in the complete solution.
Since its founding in 1993, SUPERMICRO has led the industry in delivering cutting edge technology such as the I20 architecture and Redundant Power Supply design. SUPERMICRO strives to build long-term relationships with its customers by providing outstanding engineering innovation, quality and reliability. In addition to the technology in the servers and motherboards, SUPERMICRO’s Super Building Block Solutions decrease systems integrators’ time-to-market as the interoperability of all components are ensured. All of these backed by a two year warranty (two-year labor / one-year parts and labor), make SUPERMICRO the perfect choice for server/workstation solution.
